Position
Manager, Emergency Response and Preparedness; BRAC Humanitarian Programme
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Conduct surveys to determine the types of emergency-related needs that will need to be addressed in disaster planning, or provide technical support to others conducting such surveys
- Keep informed of global and local regulations affecting emergency plans, and ensure that plans adhere to these regulations
- Collaborate with Manager Field operations and coordination and other officials in order to prepare and analyse damage assessments/ need assessment following disasters or emergencies
- Provide technical support to emergency response team, Incident Command System (ICS) and Upazilla
- Disaster Management Team (UDMT) for 1st line response and subsequently the recovery projects with attention to programme quality and ensure programme activities/ indicator are achieved within timeline
- Prepare district level contingency plan and risk mapping regarding humanitarian aspect.
- Provide technical assistance to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) team to mainstreaming DRR
- Collaboration with Need Assessment Secretariat and other relevant stakeholders in order to ensure a coordinated need assessment process in the aftermath of a disaster
- Ensure early warning and weather updates and circulate it through different communication channel (i.e.: community radio, email, sms etc.)
- Assist to design preparedness plan and activities for the organization align with IASC emergency preparedness plan
- Ensure all preparedness and emergency response activities
- Represent BRAC in coordination platform including cluster as assigned by the authority
- Develop team capacity through field visit, meeting, discussion and individual contact, on the job training
- Analyze response report and submit to supervisor for necessary measure
Requirements
Educational Requirements:
- Masters in Social Science, Disaster Management or any relevant subject from any recognised university/ institution with all second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in academic examinations. No 3rd division/ class or equivalent CGPA is acceptable
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 05 years of working experience in disaster management and humanitarian response or any other similar field is required. Candidates having experience and training related to Emergency response, Recovery and Rehabilitation will get preference
Additional Job Requirements:
- Sound knowledge of National and International disaster management architecture, Core Humanitarian standard and principles, Coordination mechanism, Humanitarian reform, Humanitarian programme cycle,
- National and international statue relating to disaster management etc.
- Capable for planning and prioritizing under any stress situation
- Excellent skills in team building, problem solving and decision making
- Demonstrated coordination skill and able to implement programme in a challenging work environment
- Excellent communication, coordination and networking skill
- Familiar with MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
